We learned about mimetic expressions in Japanese class today. If you've ever read comic books, I'm sure you've seen the little words written outside the dialogue box. Those are sounds to express the situation. Here are some examples:
痛み pain
かんかん(kan kan) a pounding headache
ずきずき (zuki zuki) a throbbing pain (teeth hurts)
ちくちく (chiku chiku) a prickly pain (itchy throat)
ひりひり (hiri hiri) a burning pain (burnt tongue from hot coffee)
お腹が your tummy
しくしく(shiku shiku) a dull persistent pain
きりきり(kiri kiri) piercing pain
笑う to laugh
にこにこ (niko niko) a nice smile
にたにた (nita nita) a evil grin
へらへら (hera hera) a teasing smile
くすくす (kusu kusu) giggling
げらげら (gera gera) burst out laughter
Japanese language is so cute.

nostalgia
i don't know what on earth is happening with seattle's weather but it better get sunny soon before i completely flip.
my little geisha friend in Japan, shino akaoka, visited shanghai last week WITHOUT me being the ultimate tour guide for her.
going through her pictures made me miss shino herself, but also my grandmama in shanghai.

i cant wait to watch this
one of my fav actresses, tangwei, is finally BACK ON SCREEN.
her two new movies will release later this yr.
"Crossing Hennessey" w/ Jacky Cheung
"Last Autumn" w/ HYUN BIN omg.
they started filming in SEATTLE since Jan 12th
and right now almost half way through.
OMG THEY'RE IN THE SAME CITY AS ME. GOD BLESS SEATTLE.

insomnia
It's 5 in the morning and I can't fall back to sleep.
What else can be possibly more productive than chatting online and blogging at this time of the day/night.
Good thing friends on the other side of the globe who are awake at this time can keep me in company. unfortunate for them to listen to me complain how I cant sleep. but still. good catch up time.
on another note, I'm terribly home sick. I don't know. maybe its because I'm sick and needy now. But there really is no place i'd rather be than home.
and thanks to sydnie for feeding me papaya. it was so good.
