other than that, Seattle's weather finally feels spring-like. almost summer-like actually. I can't wait to wear shorts and summer dresses and all that jazz.

school is so hectic. I have a quiz on wed and fri, a research paper due fri in which I still havent started. fml.

alright enough rambling. going back to NBA playoffs: Utah vs Denver with Nuggets leading by 1 with 1:35 in the 4th quarter.

1st band practice

so its been 2 weeks in school and im getting senioritis. and im not even a senior. i think its just tt sqpring quarter, last quarter, my moms coming to visit soon, yadayada i just cant focus w/ school. mehh.
im hungry. been cooking and eating earlier in the day now (4pm...). so food digests fasta and produces less fat? tt only works when i can hold it in till late at night or else my plan is going down the drain. yeah william gets pissed off when i cant control my cravings.
james pow pow is over to have our 1st band practice. its amazing what he can do on this lil drum app on his iphone. we hooked his iphone on speakers and it sounded pretty legit. oh the magic of iphones. technology really is taking over the world.

we're exactly one month away from our performance at the TSA night market. hope we rock on.

it's been a while since i cooked. almost feel kinda weird. so i decided to utilize the ingredients in the fridge, my favs - assorted seafood, asparagus, rice cake, and salmon.

its funny. im still thinking: if im cooking and all of a sudden theres a duty call from work. would i run to office n not cook for poor william? mmhmm =P

questions about life

I just came back from the M&Ms (mentor/mentee) HKAW kick off tonight.
My mentor, Sabrina Villanueva, is amazing. The moment she spoke perfect mandarin in front of the crowd, I knew we would get along together. I can't wait.

During the kick off, we had a "speed-dating" session with 10 mentors and 16 mentees. We got one minute to answer one question at each rotation with a different mentor. Some of the questions tonight were simple, but they were questions about life.

1) if you were to be another person, who would you want to be?
- Angelina Jolie. Not only she has Brad Pitt, but she has a kind heart, beautiful children, and she save lives.
2) if you could own a superhero power, what would it be?
- control time like hiro from Hero.
3) if you had no restrictions on money/time, what would you do?
- travel around the world with William
4) if you were to be an animal, what would you be?
- this is a tough one. Penguin because once they find their other half, they stick with him/her forever. Panda because all they do is eat and sleep and roll around. protected from the hazardous wilderness and receive unlimited, free supplies of juicy bamboos.
5) if you could be a ice-cream flavor, which one would you be?
- mint chocolate. because i can refresh others with a little bit of sweetness.

these are just a few, but I thought they were questions that can get to know a person quickly. Effective questionnaires. Well done Andrew! (I'm proud of you. no wonder you're a "ng" =)

the HKAW director, Michael, said something that totally reminded me of my dad. He said, "life is about what you can offer, not what you can get. It's more about giving, and less about taking".

擬態語。Japanese Mimetic Expressions

We learned about mimetic expressions in Japanese class today. If you've ever read comic books, I'm sure you've seen the little words written outside the dialogue box. Those are sounds to express the situation. Here are some examples:

痛み pain
かんかん(kan kan)　a pounding headache
ずきずき (zuki zuki)　a throbbing pain (teeth hurts)
ちくちく (chiku chiku) a prickly pain (itchy throat)
ひりひり (hiri hiri)　a burning pain (burnt tongue from hot coffee)

お腹が your tummy
しくしく(shiku shiku) a dull persistent pain
きりきり(kiri kiri) piercing pain

笑う to laugh
にこにこ (niko niko) a nice smile
にたにた (nita nita) a evil grin
へらへら (hera hera) a teasing smile
くすくす (kusu kusu) giggling
げらげら (gera gera) burst out laughter

my little geisha friend in Japan, shino akaoka, visited shanghai last week WITHOUT me being the ultimate tour guide for her.
going through her pictures made me miss shino herself, but also my grandmama in shanghai.

It's 5 in the morning and I can't fall back to sleep.

What else can be possibly more productive than chatting online and blogging at this time of the day/night.

Good thing friends on the other side of the globe who are awake at this time can keep me in company. unfortunate for them to listen to me complain how I cant sleep. but still. good catch up time.

on another note, I'm terribly home sick. I don't know. maybe its because I'm sick and needy now. But there really is no place i'd rather be than home.
